Oskar watched Roland bow, and start talking to a boy. The boy didn't seem to respond, and Oskar thought he knew him from somewhere. Roland mounted, and suddenly the horse reared and sped away. Oskar urged Milda on, and caught up with him.

Ralph frowned as the man began to talk to him and nodded along happily. Pleased at being noticed. Astride smiled slowly and raised an eyebrow. "It is time for us to move out young one," she purred and watched the horss gallop across the battleground.

'So, are we really going to kill...her?' Oskar asked.
'No. We are going to pretend that she is dead. If we hide her, and bring back just one drop of blood on one of her hairs, everyone will believe she is dead.' Roland replied, with no emotion in his voice. 'Not even my mistress will know.'
Night fell, and still they traveled. Milda started to get sleepy, but Roland's mount never seemed to tire. 'I think we should stop now, to rest.'
'Roland looked up, surprised. 'Yes, of course. I forget humans need to sleep every night.' He dismounted and lit a fire. 'I'll keep watch.'
Oskar pulled out his blanket, from Milda's baggage's, and lay next to the fire.

Astride's eye slitted. She was thinking. It was slightly suspicious that her servent has been so willing and sceaming enoungh to come upon the plan. Ralph looked up at her wearily. "You alright?" he asked curiously and Astride nodded and clasped the young man on the shoulder. With a blink they were taken out of the battlefield and reapeared many miles away.

Roland hissed in an almost inhuman like way, but not that of a monster. 'She's here.' He murmured to himself.
Oskar looked around. 'Where?'
Roland murmured that Oskar wouldn't be able to see her, and pointed to a hill a mile or so away. 'There.'

Astride saw the faint movement as the man raised an arm in knoledgement to his master but turned her unblinking gaze away from him in a matter of heartbeats. Ralph continued to stare however and pointing indignatly. "Isn't that them? The ones we just saw ride away?" he asked, his voice weak and face deathly pale. Astride smiled at the boys discomfort. "Indeed it is." she replied and Ralph looked blank.
"But we just.... we were... over," he pointed in the direction of the battle field and blauched all over. "We... shifted." he spluttered out again and Astride shook her head to silence him.
"Be still," she growled and the boy choked off his words.
"What do we do now?" he asked anyway, ingnoring her command. Astride blinked, slightly taken aback by the boys blunt ignorance at his actions. Did he not know or even suspect what she was?
"We?" she quiried and raised an eyebrow, forcing on her human appearance which made the boy flinched and step back pace, startled by the chance in her.
"Yes we," he nodded wearily, "I'm coming with you."
"Are you now," she laughed lightly and her thin shoulders shook. "Alright. If you must." A low whistle came from her mouth and a black stallion raced towards her, his nostrels flaring as he pawed the ground impatiently. His flanks were lavered with sweat and his ears swivelled round in a proud way. He stopped before them and Astride aprouched the magnificent creature. His comformaiton was impressive and his itelligent almond shaped eyes were proud and bold. "Come." she demanded and swung onto his back, reaching down to grab the stunned Ralph. Ralph clambered up behind the demon. The stallion snorted and held his head rounded, his large powerful sides heaving with anticipation to be at flight. "Ready?" she asked and Ralph nodded numbly, wrapping his arms around Astride's waist and looked out from where he was sat. The stallion surdged forwards into a fluid gait, his muscles working beneath them. Having no saddle or bridle, Astride twisted her fingers into the large black horses glossy mane and urged him forwards. The stallion lept forwards into a flat out gallop, his hooves churning up the dirt in his wake. They flew after the pair she had sent out to do her bidding.

'Whoa! Shes moving. Better not run, it'll look suspicious... Sleep.' He nodded towards Oskar's bedding.
'But-'
'Sleep Sakki.' Roland said in a purring tone.
'But I'm-'
'Sleep.'
Oskar scowled, but did as Roland had said. Roland's words seemed to have an affect, because in a matter of minutes, Oskar was dreaming.

Astride felt the boys grip tighten around her stomach and turned to face him. The stallion continued, his breathing heavy but constant. "This is Gladwin," she told the boy, stroking the horses neck softly and muttering a quick word to him. The horse's ear swivelled and he moved off faster. Ralph muttered a quick compliment but dug in nails into Astride's long dress, terrified.
They continued for quite some time before they slowed. Ralph opened his eyes nervously and blinked. "We nearly there?"
Astride laughed abruptly. "Nay. We are only part way yet Gladwin needs to get back to his kind." The stallion slowed and they caught the fight of a camp not far off where Roland and Oskar had settled. Astride slipped from his back and thanked the horse and Ralph clambored off.
The stallion tossed his head and pawed the ground impatiently and Astride tutted before waving a brief hand in his direction. Green light jumped from her palm and surrounded the hose who neighed wildly. His appearance shifted and he became what he really was. He was still beautiful but his coat of gloss was gone, replaced by hard leather and three toed hooved. His eyes glowed golden and bright and Astride watched respectfully as Gladwin quickly moved off. Towards his homeland. Ralph stared, mouth slightly proped open and then turned to the demon. "We was... we.. what?" Astride grinned toothy smile.
"He is like me. Once so beautifully ordinary but times changed us both." Her eyes grew distant and sad and Ralph changed the subject. Pointing the direction of the men.
"We are here to check on them?" he asked and Astride nodded. Gliding off in the direction he pointed.

Oskar dreamed of darkness. The dark was so intense that it swallowed him whole. He was gasping, trying to escape, but the darkness was too strong. The boy who he had recognized earlier watched as he sank. Then turned his back.
'No! No! Help!' Oskar cried to him. 'Stop it! Come back!'

He woke with a layer of sweat on his skinny body. Oskar looked to where Roland sat, eyes unmoving, watching the twilight hills with patience.
